it doesn't matter what backdrop you use it could be white, black or grey


 soft box the more area you use with the soft box the bigger the photograph will be
 the light was from 6 to 4 which made the light dimmer

You would choose a strong object with a defined or recognisable shape
get the light right by adding more more light to the  background than the foreground
as you can see the photo of the lighting was close to him, we could tell that the softbox was changed to 4 



 in this photo you can see the her facial details . the reflector board reflects the light onto the persons face so you can see her face a bit more . in this photo it was set to 6 which makes it not a perfect silhouette because the features are still visible and the lights were further away from the subject . the reflector board reflects onto the persons face so you can seethe features
in this photos the lighting was set to  to make the perfect silhoueete and the lights are placed really close to her to make all features not visible
